Open all day from 8am, we serve a seasonal menu with a Mediterranean influence in our stylish dining room. Dedicated to quality produce, we source our meat and poultry from British farmers, and select free-range eggs and responsibly sourced fish.

Welcome to the red lion

 

With a history dating back to 1730, The Red Lion at Water End is situated in rural Hertfordshire. During its life as an old coaching inn, the building housed a Brewhouse, two cellars and six rooms, and occupied three acres of land complete with animals and farm equipment. Current features include a lounge and bar area, dining space with open kitchen, and a spacious carpark.  

Open all day from 8am, we serve a seasonal menu with a Mediterranean influence in our stylish dining room. Dedicated to quality produce, we source our meat and poultry from British farmers, and select free-range eggs and responsibly sourced fish.

Our coffee is Rainforest Alliance certified, and our wine is carefully selected by Enotria&Coe, a company that has built its knowledge over the course of the past 125 years.  

Preparation and execution of our varied menu is equally as important, and our open kitchen features a charcoal-fuelled Josper grill, and a wood-burning oven. As members of the Associazone Verace Pizza Napoletana, we serve authentic Neapolitan pizza, handmade by our trained pizzaiolos. Our classic dishes also include 12 hour roasted pork belly, Halloumi and Portobello mushroom burger, and Josper-grilled salmon and avocado salad. For families, our bespoke children’s menu comes with an activity pack, and most dietary requirements are easily accommodated for.

Oakman Inns & Restaurants was founded in 2005. Our vision was to create an environment where like-mined people could come and enjoy some great food and drinks whilst catching up with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

We quickly won a place in the hearts and minds of local people through our support of local sports teams and community events. Then we started winning awards too. Today we work hard to replicate this recipe in each and every new pub that we open.
