Peter Borg-Neal is the Chief Executive of Oakman Inns & Restaurants. His vision for the Oakman Inns & Restaurants portfolio of pubs, of which the Red Lion is the third, was a modern public house and restaurant at the heart of the community. This idea meant meeting the requirements of the contemporary restaurant goer while retaining all the traditional warmth, hospitality and comfort of a local pub. Great food and drink lay at the heart of Peter’s plan.

The Red Lion sits in a building which dates back to the 1700s, and has been renovated sympathetically to create a warm and cosy bar with open fires, while the modern part of the building houses Oakman Inns & Restaurants' signature open kitchen and contemporary glass-walled restaurant. For the warmer months, there is a sizeable landscaped garden area with decking, comfortable seating and an alfresco dining terrace.

In 2011 the Red Lion won Italian Food Pub of the Year at the Great British Pub Food Awards, reinforcing its genuine Italian food offering and authentic cooking methods.
